Opportunities

Opportunity IconPipeline Program (ABCTS/STS Visiting Clerkship)
Our flagship initiative provides mentorship, clinical exposure, and guidance for underrepresented medical students and residents pursuing cardiothoracic surgery. The goal of the Pipeline Program is direct mentorship and successful match of awardees into Thoracic surgery training programs, which achieves better surgeon representation in clinical and academic environments.

Opportunity Icon“You Belong” Equity and Opportunity Scholarship
Sponsored by the STS, with oversight by the Workforce on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the “You Belong” scholarship is a traveling scholarship for medical students in a U.S.—or Canadian-accredited medical school as well as general surgery and thoracic surgery residents enrolled at an ACGME—or Canadian-accredited training program, who identify with a race/ethnicity that is underrepresented in medicine.
